Our 25 years of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) professional practice have taught us to appreciate the wisdom of “multiple intelligence”—first coined by Dr. Gardner of Harvard University in 1987. Among the many practical insights from integrating multiple intelligences into NLP is that intelligence is not just in the head (IQ), and more powerful performance is possible when we integrate our emotional (EQ), physical (PQ) and spiritual intelligence (SQ), i.e., our ability to expand our self-awareness and connect to our higher purpose.

Most coaching work today focuses on spoken content and “what people say”. This helps unpack the inner meaning beyond people’s conscious awareness so they can develop new perspectives and construct new meaning. This is coaching at the IQ level.
However, beyond awareness and even “aha moments”, people still easily snap back to their old ways. This is the limitation of IQ-based coaching, because the inner programming that drives individuals’ behaviours (PQ), emotional triggers (EQ) and higher purpose (SQ) are not addressed.

Barney Wee is the President of ICI Singapore. He is an ICI Coach Master Trainer & NLP Master Trainer, the pioneer of Multi-Intelligence NLP. He has integrated NLP with the practical aspects of the Multiple Intelligences theory (formulated by Harvard Professor Howard Gardner) and he is helping people achieve congruent and sustainable change at all levels – through coaching and training.
Barney holds a Ph.D. in Professional Coaching and Human Development, and has trained countless corporate clients like DBS, NUS, BBC Worldwide and DHL, among others.
Joseph Ch'ng is an NLP & ICI Coach Trainer at Mind Transformations. He offers 13 years of practician experience, with over 1,000 hours of coaching, applying NLP with multiple disciplines such as systems thinking, experiential learning, Enneagram, Polarity Thinking, Agile, Tai Chi and I-Ching philosophies. Joseph dedicates his career to translating the impactful knowledge of NLP & Enneagram - into practical people skills and a way of Being.
